Departed 3 December 2025, after a brief stop at Catalina Island.
Mexico and El Salvador
December 2025–March 2026 — down the Pacific coast through Ensenada, Turtle Bay, Cabo San Lucas, the Sea of Cortez, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Chiapas, then outfitting and weather planning in El Salvador.
The Pacific crossing
2–29 April 2026 — 28 days at sea, double-handed. The last eleven brought 12-foot waves and 25-plus knots of wind. Shellback ceremony at the equator. Mr. Pickles and Colonel Mustard became the first pugs to cross the Pacific on a private sailing yacht. Landfall in the Marquesas on 29 April.
The Marquesas

Next: Fiji
We check out of Tonga in late October 2026 and sail roughly 400 nautical miles west to Fiji, to be tucked in before cyclone season begins on 1 November. Fiji is home until April 2027. Fiji notes →
And the best part: Steve’s sons, Hank and Carter, are flying to Fiji for Christmas. It will be the first time we’ve seen them in over a year.
The full route
Our circumnavigation takes us across the South Pacific, through Southeast Asia and the northern Indian Ocean, up the Red Sea and through the Suez Canal, a year in the Mediterranean, a winter Atlantic crossing, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal — and home to Manhattan Beach, California in October or November 2030. 105 ports across 70 countries, with the timing built around cyclone, monsoon and hurricane seasons in each ocean.
Fiji
Late October 2026–April 2027 — cyclone-season layover, cruising the Yasawas and Lau Group in settled weather.
Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and the Solomon Islands
May–August 2027, with a short loop to Wallis and Futuna.
Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and Bali
September–early November 2027 — including Raja Ampat, and the southern Philippines if the weather allows.
Malaysia and Thailand
November 2027–March 2028 — based around Langkawi and Phuket for the Andaman Sea sailing season.
Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Suez Canal
April–August 2028 — Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Oman, the Red Sea, and the Suez Canal, if security allows. The Cape of Good Hope is the alternative.
Mediterranean
August 2028–September 2029 — Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, the Adriatic, Malta, Sicily, Tunisia, Sardinia, Corsica, the Riviera, the Balearics, and Gibraltar.
Atlantic Crossing
Late November 2029–January 2030 — from the Canary Islands to the eastern Caribbean, possibly via Cape Verde.
Caribbean
December 2029–May 2030 — north from Grenada through the Windwards and Leewards to the Virgin Islands, then west via the ABC islands, Colombia, and San Blas.
Panama Canal and Home
June–November 2030 — through the canal, north along Central America and Mexico, and home to Manhattan Beach, California in October or November 2030.
