Clearing In

How your data stays private

Your boat, crew, passport and pet details never leave your device.

The short version

We never see your information. The tool runs entirely in your browser. When you click “Create the PDFs”, it takes the blank official forms and fills them in on your device. Nothing you typed gets sent to us, to analytics, or to any government office. You send the finished forms yourself, when and how you choose.

What stays on your device

Saving is up to you

What does go over the internet

We’d rather be exact than vague, so here’s the full list of what leaves the device while you’re using the forms tool:

  1. Your licence key (or member code), once, to unlock. The browser sends only the key and an activation ID to our licence checker, a Netlify function. Your form data is never included. The tool is built to refuse to send anything else, and so is the checker. For a purchased key, our checker asks Lemon Squeezy whether it’s valid. Lemon Squeezy already knows who bought it, because it handled the sale. A Captain’s Log or Patreon code is checked on our side and never passed on. Our checker doesn’t save the key, and it doesn’t send back your name or email. Once you’re unlocked, your browser remembers which countries you have, plus the last 4 characters of your key so you can tell which one you used. Your forms aren’t part of that.
  2. Loading the pages and the blank forms. Like any website, your browser downloads the pages, the tool and the blank official PDFs from our site, which is hosted on Netlify. Netlify sees those ordinary downloads the way any web host does. Nothing you type goes up with them.
  3. The Arrival Kit PDF, if you download it. That happens on the kits page, not inside the forms tool. The page sends only your licence key or member code, and an activation ID if you already have one. The checker sends back the walkthrough PDF, or the zip of all four. Your boat, crew and pet details are not in that request. A member code is checked on our side and is not passed to Lemon Squeezy.

That’s the list for the forms tool. The forms tool doesn’t load Google Analytics or Google Fonts. The rest of sometuesday.com, including these clearance guides, still counts ordinary page views.

Cruiser reports

The guides and the clearing-in hub have a separate form, cruiser-report. If you send one, it goes to Netlify so we can read it. The fields are the country, the port, the month and year you cleared, what happened, whether it’s an update, a correction or a question, an optional boat name, an optional email if you want a reply, and whether we may quote you anonymously. We review it before anything is published.

That form does not ask for passport numbers, crew lists, dates of birth, or pet papers. Don’t put them in the story. The forms tool still never sends those. They stay on your device.

What happens when you send a form to Customs

When you email a form to Customs or paste your answers into a government portal, that information goes to them. You’re the one sending it. We’re not in the middle and we never see it.

Works with bad internet

After you’ve used the tool once with a connection, your browser keeps a copy of it. So at anchor with patchy internet, it should still open and fill your forms. The blank PDFs are kept only after they’ve been downloaded once. To be safe, open it and create your PDFs once while you’re still online.

Don’t take our word for it. If you’re technical, open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab and fill in a form. You’ll see the blank PDFs come down from our site, and nothing you typed going up.

The honest fine print

Some Tuesday, LLC sells information and a do-it-yourself forms tool. We never file, submit, sign or send paperwork for anyone. We’re not a customs agent, yacht agent or lawyer, and nothing here is legal advice.

Everything here is best efforts. We combine research from the official sources, automation that fills in the forms for you, and our own experience. Rules change, officials change, and every boat’s experience in each country will be a little different, including from ours. Before you rely on anything here, check it against the official links and with the officials themselves. You’re responsible for checking, signing and submitting your own forms.
