The Society Islands
NoForeignLand is absolutely indispensable, and we think it is fantastic. No cruiser should be without it. We use it constantly. This page is a supplement to the app. See this area on NoForeignLand · Some Tuesday on NoForeignLand · Captain Steve on NoForeignLand · First Mate Meg on NoForeignLand.
We left Rangiroa for Tahiti on 18–20 June 2026. Through July we were in Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora. Bora Bora notes and photos are still coming.
Tahiti was not a second clearance. We cleared in at Taiohae, Nuku Hiva, on 30 April. On 19 June we called Papeete Port Control on VHF 12 to go past the airport to the anchorage south of Marina Taina. That was a port call. The official vet came out to the boat there to see the pugs. We signed the undertaking on 24 June 2026.
The zarpe we handed to Cook Islands Customs at Aitutaki was from Bora Bora.
The passages are in the Captain’s Log: Rangiroa and the Passage to Tahiti (“Saying Goodbye to the Tuamotus and Hello to The Society Islands”) and The Windward Society Islands (“The Queen of the Pacific — Tahiti — and her beautiful sister, Moorea”).
