Ocean Tactics Weather Routing

Me:
April 12 status
6°11.200’N 106°46.780’W
TWS 10
TWD 038
Sea state calmer - 3-4 ft well-spaced rollers
cloudy, stormy, many squalls - we’ve been busy dodging squalls for 30+ hours
boat speed 4-5; currently motoring on heading 241 at 7 kn
bare poles currently - if it stays clear, will raise sails again shortly
COG 241
We’re tired of dodging squalls and losing ground! Constant squalls coming at us and I end up turning SE to get behind them. Wind is down. We had lightning strikes close last night, estimated 2 miles. Wind appears to be dying South.

Looking forward to your update. I hope all is well from cyclone in NZ.

OT:
How are your diesel stocks?

Me:
Probably enough for 5 days of motoring. 120 hours. It looks like 650 miles south to get wind again if we go now. Probably 108 hours. Maybe less. Not much cushion.

OT:
Disregard previous routing, it’s now time to dive through the ITCZ and get clear of the squally weather
Routing - Next AP- 3N 110W then 4S 112W

Me:
Okidoke. I’ll sail as much as possible. It looks pretty calm in there though!!

OT:
Just so you know, we’ll be traversing the counter-equitorial current hence the deep dive
The dark red is flowing west to east
